Sony Ericsson Aino

Is there anything the Sony Ericsson Aino can't do? Communicate, entertain yourself, enjoy features you've never experienced before, and more on this sleek slider phone. Rumor has it that this phone will be available in Fall 2009.

About the Sony Ericsson Aino

The Aino is a lightweight slider phone with a large screen that allows you to do everything from video calling to video gaming. It weighs in at just under 5 ounces and its dimensions are 4.1 x 2.0 x 0.6 inches. The 432 x 240 pixel screen is 3-inches across the diagonal and it automatically rotates. It's available in two colors (Luminous White and Obsidian Black) and comes with a matching Bluetooth headset and desk stand charger.

The Sony Ericsson Aino works on the GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 network and can use Wi-Fi, GPS, and more. With the Aino, you can take advantage of Google Maps, PictBridge (for sending pictures from your phone to your printer), DLNA, and the ability to move files directly from your phone to your computer and back again via USB mass storage support. You can also synchronize your contacts and organizer on your phone and computer.

What It Can Do

The better question about the Aino may be, what can't it do? From pictures to video games, the Sony Ericsson Aino has amazing capabilities.

Games

Video game junkies, rejoice! Especially if you're a PlayStation fan. You can play your video games remotely with the Sony Ericsson Aino. First, connect it in your home. When you're away, you can use the Internet or 3G to keep playing. There are keys on the phone designed with gaming in mind, so be prepared for something less awkward than traditional cell phone games.

Camera

Do you hate carrying a digital camera with you when you go on trips or just because you may catch your friend doing something hilarious? This phone has an 8.1 megapixel camera with a zoom of up to 16 times. There's auto focus, face detection, flash, video and picture blogging, so you can get everyone else in on the laughs immediately!

Music and Entertainment

The Aino is more than just your average phone with an MP3 player. It's even more than a phone/mp3 player that allows you to use real songs as ringtones. If you're wondering what a song is or the name of the artist, you can record just a clip of it and the information you're looking for will appear almost instantly. You can also browse through music based on the album cover art or organize playlists by mood.

In addition, you get crisp, clear sound with the ability to shift the bass to your preference. To further enhance your music-listening experience, you can do it fumble-free. There's no wire to get in the way when you use the Bluetooth stereo option.

If you're more into television than music, there's something for you too. You can surf free channels with the phone, watching, pausing, and recording as you like. Unfortunately, this feature is limited to specific countries (Italy, Germany, the UK, France, and Spain).

Communication

For those who love their cell phones simply because they can keep them in touch with their friends, family, and business contacts, you'll love that there is video calling (for up to 1 hour, 40 minutes without needing to charge the battery), speakerphone, and polyphonic ringtones in addition to regular calling capabilities. Regular talk time can last up to thirteen hours.

Prefer texting? You can enjoy the convenience of predictive text, instant messaging on AOL, Yahoo!, and Windows Live, email, Exchange ActiveSync, and picture and text messaging.

Staying Organized

While cell phones are often relied upon for communication and entertainment during idle time, don't forget their capabilities for keeping you organized and on time for important events. The Aino has an alarm clock, calculator, calendar, stopwatch, timer, notepad, and more to help you make sure you don't forget anything.

A Final Word

It seems as if the creators of the Sony Ericsson Aino set out to design a phone that does it all. You can play video games; listen to, download, adjust, and organize music wirelessly; communicate in ways that most phones don't allow; snap amazing pictures; and play video games remotely and more!
