Samsung Gravity Applications

Cell phone screen

Get the most out of your new cell phone by downloading a variety of Samsung Gravity applications. It may not be a smartphone in the strictest sense of the word, but thanks to that brilliant QWERTY keyboard and easy-to-understand user interface, this mobile phone could be just as useful as its more expensive counterparts.

Compatible with Java-Based Applications

Whether you choose to get the phone from Rogers Wireless or any other wireless provider that happens to carry it, the Samsung Gravity uses the same core software and platform. The user interface may be slightly different across carriers to accommodate for carrier-specific information, but the way that you would interact with most of the other functions is largely the same.

Apple iPhone users can quickly turn to the App Store and Google Android phone users have Android Market, so where does this leave Samsung Gravity users? It's not a smartphone, as mentioned above, but it can download and install a wide range of Java applications. This is similar to many other so-called feature phones available through a number of different manufacturers and wireless carriers.

Where to Find Samsung Gravity Applications

The single easiest and simplest source of Samsung Gravity applications is through your chosen wireless provider. Generally speaking, when you first buy the phone and turn it on, you will be able to go through the main menu to find some sort of online marketplace. Depending on the carrier, browsing of this marketplace should be free, but it is best if you check with your provider ahead of time.

From this marketplace, you may be able to find a number of different applications that are compatible with Samsung Gravity. Presumably, the carrier would have preselected these applications to ensure their compatibility, but as always, you will be proceeding at your own risk. Similarly, if you have signed up for an appropriate mobile browsing plan, you may be able to surf through the mobile web to find different applications too.

The other alternative would be search through the regular Internet on your home computer, downloading the appropriate Java files onto your computer's hard drive. You can then transfer these files to the Gravity using a USB data cable. Since the Gravity is a little different, it may not be able to use Samsung Instinct apps, for instance, so you'll need to check for any compatibility issues before downloading and installing.
